Problem solving or story telling?
Traditionally, graphic design has existed to solve problems and offer solutions.
The question has been, What is the problem and how can we solve it? Once
these questions were answered the graphic designers would run off and deliver
the design solution to the client, solving their problem. But are people drawn
to and captivated by solutions? Does this Modern, scientific-process design
approach still resonate? Is problem solving really what matters?
And here lies the creative shift.
Perhaps a better question is this: What is the story and how can we tell it? At
its core, every graphic design project has a story it is trying to tell to its audience.
Perhaps the story is as simple as "We Care" or as complex as "We are trying
to make the world a better place." Regardless, each story is unique and individual
and personal. Equally, the design offered to tell the story should also be unique,
individual and personal.
CreativeShift seeks to discover your unique story and works hard to tell your story
through the visuals of design. In part because I believe that this is ultimately what
clients want: Their story told. But more importantly, because I believe that this is
what people are universally drawn to and captivated by. A fantastic story told by
a great storyteller.
